Ways to get involved in our school, because teamwork makes the dream work (and none of us can do all the things all the time):

  • Support two 3rd Street families when they need it most!
    • 3rd Street parent, Sean Perkin, has sadly passed away from cancer, leaving his 3rd Grader and family. Please consider supporting their family by donating to their GoFundMe campaign.
    • One of our new kinder families that just moved is expecting a baby sibling to arrive very soon! They could use gently used safety gate, stroller, infant car seat for carrying the new one (not a convertible car seat). Please reach out to Trish Pham if you can support this family! [email protected]

  • Traffic safety valet:
      • Curious about when your 1st-5th Grade class is scheduled to help with traffic safety? See the schedule on our school website here: Traffic & Safety
  • A note to our community on traffic safety:
  • PLEASE DRIVE AND WALK SAFELY AROUND CAMPUS =
  • NO parking in the red,
  • NO U-turns near campus,
  • Observe posted signs (such as no left onto 3rd during certain hours),
  • USE CROSSWALKS
  • Volunteer interest form: LAUSD VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS FOR 2026-2027 OPEN NEXT WEEK (5/26)
  • School communications submissions:
    • Do you have other ways our school community can get involved for our students and neighbors, or other announcements for our school community? Fill in our communications form by each Wednesday at 11:59pm for inclusion in communications the following Sunday!

Enjoy some Memorial Day ‘fireworks’ in a jar this long weekend, from our weekly Family Science Corner! Thank you, Ms Jackie, for bringing us weekly ways to engage with our families in the pursuit of scientific exploration!

  • LAUSD screen time policy feedback needs your input
  • LAUSD students, families, staff, and community members are invited to participate in the Open Feedback Period for the District’s new Screen Time Policy now through June 2, 2026. Community input will help shape how the policy supports student learning, well-being, and responsible technology use across our schools. Participants can share feedback through ThoughtExchange by scanning the QR code or visiting the survey link included in the attached flyer.
  • Please distribute widely to help ensure we hear from as many LAUSD community members as possible before the Board votes on the policy in June.
  • Feedback Form: http://bit.ly/lausd-screentime

Additional Reminders:

  • Reminder: Mental health resources available to our community

Please see the attached flyers for information on mental health services and support available to our community at large, as well as to monthly Zoom sessions covering specific topics to support our caregivers.

  • Reminder: LAUSD food services

Did you make it to the end of all of this? THANK YOU! Please enjoy this ‘dad joke’:

I know times are challenging, economically, but homeowners, please don’t forget to pay your exorcists!

You don’t want to add your home being repossessed to the list of challenges!

Thank you for showing up for each of our students every day! Have a great week!
